NASA and Microsoft scientists are working together to develop an 3D simulation of the Martian environment.
So, her researchers NASA and Microsoft they work together to develop a new one software which they call OnSight. The new software will be able to create a 3D simulation of the Martian surface that scientists will be able to explore from the comfort of their desks.
In one report published for this project, NASA scientists report that the 3D simulation of the Mars environment will be created using data collected from orbiting spacecraft and rovers that are currently in circulation on the Red Planet.
Most of this data comes from NASA's Curiosity rover, which landed at the Mars Gale Crater in August of 2012. The rover is still in operation, and besides, scientists expect that sometime in the next few days, they will re-drill the surface of Mars.
Once the 3D simulation of Mars is created, researchers will be able to walk through the XNUMXD landscape and study it in detail using the w τεχνολογία της Microsoft, HoloLens.
Note that, although NASA and Microsoft scientists are currently developing OnSight software that will work flawlessly with HoloLens, when the new technology is completed, it will be available across the scientific community.
