NASA Sunjammer Space Eagle

NASA has announced that it is building a huge "eagle" to fly into 2014 Space. It is a solar powered sail and NASA's goal is to find out whether it is feasible and effective to use it as a propulsion mechanism for spacecraft.

The Sunjammer, when its construction is completed, it will be a 38 floor sail with 1.208 surface s. Despite its size, the sail will only have a weight of 32 pounds. The goal of the mission is to reach a distance of three million kilometers with the help of solar energy. The sail will consist of an improved version of the Kapton insulating material used primarily in objects or components that require thermal protection. Sunjammer will have a camera that will record every moment of his journey.
