What's new in Teams, Outlook, Edge and Copilot

The Microsoft 365 Roadmap (you know the “we’ll fix it” one) is a very useful repository of information that describes all the new features that will be coming to the various applications in the suite. Although the details are not very clear, they are sure to cause excitement especially for those who have been waiting for the new features for a long time.

Microsoft has announced an interesting feature for the new Outlook app on Windows and the web that will allow customers to apply rules to specific folders, not just incoming emails in their inbox. This is something that users have been asking for since at least 2022. So we expect it to be accepted by the community as it could help improve the new Outlook's poor reputation.

Now in Teams, we have something that will likely please some IT admins. With the penetration of bots and AI agents into corporate environments, it is difficult for IT admins to assess whether an AI agent complies with their organizational framework. Microsoft is making this particular task easier by allowing IT admins to define their requirements once and then have an automated system generate a “Trust Score.” This will speed up the decision-making process around AI agents and is scheduled to be released in February 2026.

It's worth mentioning that Microsoft is renaming some features in Microsoft Edge. Performance mode, which offers Balanced and Maximum savings, is being renamed Power Saver. Meanwhile, Performance mode for PC gaming, which reduces Edge's resource consumption to free up more resources for gaming, is being renamed PC gaming boost. Microsoft hopes this new naming scheme will give a clearer message about the intended functionality.
These changes will take effect in January 2026.

Finally, we have Microsoft 365 Copilot , which will allow users to display the summary of shared files created by Copilot within the sharing dialog, further improving productivity and allowing the recipient to know at a glance what the shared content contains.

It will be available in File Explorer and OneDrive Activity Center in January 2026.
