The Debian-based Netrunner OS distribution has released its first stable release for 2026, version 26, which brings KDE Plasma 6.3.6, KDE Gear 25.04.3, KDE Frameworks 6.13, and the stable base of Debian 13 “Trixie.”
Codenamed “Twilight,” Netrunner OS 26 has just been released.
The new version of Netrunner OS comes with Linux 6.16 kernel instead of the long-term supported Linux 6.12 LTS of Debian Trixie.
Of course, Netrunner OS 23 comes with a newer desktop KDE Plasma 6.3.6. KDE Plasma 6.3.6 comes with KDE Frameworks 6.13 and KDE Gear 25.04.3 software suites.
In addition to all the KDE applications included in Netrunner, the new version also brings the latest ESR (Extended Support Release) versions of the Firefox browser and Thunderbird email client, the LibreOffice office suite, the VirtualBox virtualization software, the VLC media player, Audacious audio player, HandBrake video transcoder, Pidgin IM client, and Transmission BitTorrent client.
Also included is the Steam Client for gaming, the GIMP image editor, the Inkscape SVG editor, the digital painting app Krita, and AppImageLauncher, a tool for running more and newer apps available in the AppImage format.

Although the press releases will range from very select to rare, I said I'd pass...because sometimes the editors hide.
