Ubuntu 14.04 LTS is a good opportunity to introduce a new theme icons and there is a very interesting idea based on an origami pattern.
When designers begin to make original artwork for operating systems, they usually start from scratch or simply integrate the current trend in their work. Ubuntu designers have managed to produce something unique that does not follow the general trend and which is inspired by art.
At presentation of Ubuntu 14.04 icons made on duration of Ubuntu Developer Summit, designer James Matthieu explained that they used the logic of origami to depict the various icons.
"The default icon shape is a sheet of paper and the origami effect is used to maintain the consistency of the application icon style" said James Matthieu during the presentation.
This is not the first time a folded corner is used for folders or files, but if you look closely at the icons you will see the wrapping of the paper as in origami.
We hope this new icon theme will be approved because it looks very fresh and beautiful.
