Nextcloud introduces Hub 26 Winter

With its newest release, Nextcloud Hub 26 Winter, the most popular privacy-first collaboration platform, brings performance improvements, easier user migration, and new collaboration capabilities, including cross-server federation.

Easier relocation

The concept of controlling your data is the ability to choose where it resides and be free from any lock-in. Nexcloud Hub can be hosted anywhere, and Hub 26 Winter extends user freedom with a much-improved migration app. The app, now installed by default, has expanded export/import support to include Mail, Contacts, Calendars, Boards, and data from the project management application Deck.

Integration allows users on different servers to communicate and share things with each other, making decentralized collaboration possible.

The most obvious example is email, where Hotmail users can send emails to others on Gmail or corporate networks without any problems. Compare this to the difficulty of sending messages between closed platforms like Whatsapp, Snapchat, Discord or Slack.

Nextcloud is essentially decentralized, but allows for strong collaboration even between servers thanks to integration.

Other new features in Hub 26 Winter include improvements to Nextcloud Files, Office, Whiteboard, Talk for chat and video conferencing, artificial intelligence, and Nextcloud Assistant, across mobile and desktop clients, among others.
