No Limits: TEDxKalamata, in an ancient theater without Internet is not possible

Live will broadcast it TEDxKalamata with the title "Boundaries" from the theater of Ancient Messina i on Saturday, June 7, 2014. In collaboration with OTE, they will together cover all the telecommunication needs of the expected 2.000 visitors, overcoming "the limits" that want a provincial archaeological site to not have access to the Internet.

TEDxKalamata

Free Wi-Fi internet access covers the Wi-Fi wireless network set up in the archaeological site, especially for the TEDxKalamata. The Wi-Fi network covers the entrance, the canteen, the ancient theater and a Cosmote promotional point.

As the company explains to tech.in.gr, a wide WLAN network consisting of 29 was set up Cisco access point, with support for 802.11 a/g/n protocols - 802.11g operates at 2,4GHz and 802.11a at 5GHz, with 802.11n able to operate in both bands. These access points enable WLAN access to a wide variety of devices (laptops, tablets, smartphones), with superior speeds of up to 250Mbps, while the permitted radiation limits according to ETSI have been taken into account.

Managing and controlling the WLAN network, for maximum efficiency, is centrally managed through two Wireless Controllers installed in space. Transmission is via a local wireless Ethernet microwave link to OTE's nearby fixed-line Internet feed.

Cosmote's mobile network was further enhanced for the needs of the event up to 75Mbps. A mobile phone has been sent to do this base 2G, 3G and fourth generation 4G in the archaeological site. Both the 4G station and the transmission network have been configured so that the offered speeds can reach 75Mbps.

Broadband Internet in Mavromati and Zerpissia
As the OTE Group notes, in the general context of upgrading its network, it designed and implemented a specific project for the development of a broadband access network in ancient Messina.

It is a long-term project through which high-standard fixed broadband services are provided, even in difficult-to-reach and smaller settlements of the wider region.

This fixed broadband project in the area is ongoing. Today it has been completed in the areas of the settlements of Mavromati (near the archaeological site of Messina) and Zerbisia, whose residents can now enjoy stable broadband high speed and reliability.
