A Nov. 13 hearing "will further lift the curtain on the U.S. government's secret UAP research programs and undisclosed findings," according to a congressional statement.
It is an initiative of two Republicans, Nancy Mace and Glenn Grothman, who state: "Americans deserve to know what the government has learned with observations of UAPs (Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena) and the nature of any threats from these phenomena. We can ensure this knowledge by providing consistent, systemic transparency and we have the greatest responsibility in this matter".
"Special witnesses at the hearing include Luis Elizondo, a decorated former counterintelligence officer who has claimed for years that the US government is hiding knowledge about UAPs, including materials recovered from crashed flying saucers," as he says Space.com.
Also appearing at the congressional hearing will be Tim Gallaudet, a retired U.S. Navy admiral who has observed various underwater objects, and argued that "these underwater anomalies pose a threat to U.S. maritime security."
Other speakers at the hearing include journalist Michael Shellenberger, who claims the US government is hiding crashed UFO recovery programs, and former NASA Associate Administrator of Space Policy and Partnerships Michael Gold, who is a member of by NASA's independent UAP study group".
