OneDrive end support in Windows 8.1, 8 and 7

At the official Tech Community Forum, Microsoft he said changes to the built-in Windows OneDrive application.

From January 1, 2022, Microsoft will stop supporting OneDrive in earlier versions of Windows, and in particular in Windows 8.1, 8 and 7.

The end of support for the OneDrive client application in versions of Windows released before Windows 10 means that Microsoft no longer releases feature and security updates. However, the application will continue to run for another two months.blue onedrive

So from March 1, 2022, OneDrive will stop working on Windows 8.1, 8 and 7. Users will no longer be able to sync, download or upload with the old Windows application.

As a solution, Microsoft of course urges users to upgrade their systems to Windows 10 or 11 (if compatible).

If your computer doesn't support installing Windows 10 or 11, Microsoft recommends it to OneDrive from a modern supported program .

Although Microsoft has already ended mainstream support for Windows 8.1, 8 and 7, Google and other developers continue to update thetheir browsing due to the relatively high adoption of older operating systems. This means that the OneDrive for Web will continue to run on older versions of Windows for a while.

Please note that the change only applies to OneDrive for personal accounts. On January 1, 2022, Microsoft will align the OneDrive Business application with the Windows support lifecycle.

This means that companies that pay Microsoft for extended support will continue to receive updates and support until January 10, 2023 (Windows 7 and Windows 8.1).
