The Directorate for the Prosecution of Electronic Crime, in the context of targeted actions, with the aim of combating the conduct of games of chance and illegal betting, via the Internet, carried out intensive s for the detection of websites, pages and profiles on social networking sites and Internet users, which carry out unfair and illegal commercial communication, for games of chance and for illegal betting.

More specifically, the Cybercrime Prosecution Directorate, in the previous period, in the context of appropriate utilization and evaluation of information and complaints, conducted a thorough digital-internet investigation, on a well-known social networking website.

The result was the identification of an offender, who had created a "page" on the specific social network, with a name that referred to betting and match predictions and either advertised to other social network users or approached them - attracted, for a fee, falsely promising that has and offers predictions regarding the outcome of all kinds of individual or team games and mainly football matches that are included in the OPAP Bet Slip or outside the coupon.

It is pointed out that he requested the monetary remuneration directly exchanged with users on the social network, mainly through prepaid card codes, which are used for purchases and transactions on the Internet.

For this purpose, the Athens Public Prosecutor's Office was informed and ordered a preliminary examination, in which specialized executives conducted a targeted digital survey while at the same time corresponded with the social networking company and with the relevant telecommunication and Internet service providers for the identification of the actor.

From the answers of the companies and the consideration - evaluation of the pre-investigation material and the results of the investigation, it emerged that the management of the aforementioned page was done by an 18-year-old native in the region of Crete.

The 13-06-2015 police station conducted a surprise investigation, in the presence of a Judicial Officer, at the 18ronos residence in Heraklion, Crete. From the on-site digital survey conducted on the digital media involved, its illegal activity was digitally identified and evidence was found.

A computer hard drive was seized and seized during the investigation and sent to the Criminal Investigation Division for laboratory tests.
