OpenAI launched ads

OpenAI has begun testing ads within ChatGPT for logged-in adult users on its Free and Go subscription tiers in the United States, the company said.

The Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise, and Education tiers remain ad-free.

Ads are matched to users based on their conversation topics, past conversations, and past ad interactions. They will appear as “sponsored” and will be visually separated from ChatGPT’s organic responses.

OpenAI says that ads will not influence ChatGPT responses, and advertisers will only receive aggregated performance data, such as number of views, clicks, and will not have access to individual conversations.

Users under 18 will not see ads, and ads will not appear on sensitive topics like health, mental health, and politics.

Users of the free plan will be able to opt out of ads in exchange for fewer daily messages.
