By providing cabin VDSL services, the number of potential users who can access the Internet at speeds of up to 30Mbps / 2,5Mbps or up to 50Mbps / 5Mbps is widened, as in VDSL the distance from the access point is critical to achieving the highest speeds. By moving fiber optics from the cabin to the urban center, coverage extends to a much larger number of users
At the same time, from July to the end of 2014, 150 new urban centers outside of Athens and Thessaloniki will deliver VDSL speeds, announced OTE Group
VDSL is currently available in approximately 1.200.000 households and businesses across Greece. The Group's goal is the population coverage of OTE's VDSL network to reach 30% within 2014.
4G: population coverage 70% by the end of the year
At the same time, the COSMOTE 4G network is growing at a very fast pace. Since the beginning of the year, 4 generation services have been activated in Lamia, Arta, Mesolongi, Ierapetra, Apokoronas, Chania, West Pelion, Oreokastro, Kefalonia, Ithaca, Lesvos, Chios, Salamina and Tilos. During the summer season 4G coverage was extended to Corfu, Samos, Leros, West Rhodes and Hersonissos, as well as Agrinio, Grevena, Igoumenitsa and Amaliada.
