Facebook users report a strange error they have noticed. Old Messenger messages are automatically restored as unread and the platform displays them as new.
This strange behavior of Facebook was first mentioned users of the Twitter platform, and the company after research confirmed the bug, stating: “Some people are seeing older messages on Facebook.com. We are aware of the issue and are actively working to resolve it as soon as possible. We apologize for the inconvenience.”
Some have expressed concern that the bug could rehash conversations or historical pasts they'd rather forget. If not delete active history between you and another user, Messenger preserves the entirety of your conversations, stretching back years. You may have lost a loved one and suddenly see them texting you.
Although it is specific error has been reported since early November just yesterday Facebook said it had resolved the issue, which it attributes to updates software. “Some people may have seen Facebook broadcast older messages.
