2 major ransomware gangs resign

Two major ransomware gangs, Scattered Spider and Lapsus$ , have announced that they are leaving the internet and declare that no further attacks will be carried out in their name.

In a publication On Breachforums, ransomware developers report that they have achieved their goals – exposing insecure systems, not extortion – and that “silence will now be our strength.”jpg ransomware

“If you’re worried about us, don’t be. [we] will enjoy our golden parachutes with the millions the team has accumulated. Others will continue to study and improve the systems you use in your daily life. Silently.”

The groups carried out the recent attacks against Jaguar and Marks & Spencer, among many others.

Several members of the groups have already been arrested and the hackers say they will try to free them by "using our skills."

The groups say there may be further attacks attributed to them, but these occurred before the withdrawal announcement.

These gangs often try to evade law enforcement by abandoning their activities. They change tactics and continue to operate under new names.

Usually whoever runs these gangs will soon repeat the attacks.
