Here we go again. In a European country, Greece, some individuals wake up one morning and decide to trap and monitor the telephone calls of ministers, political leaders, supreme judges, and the heads of the armed forces.
They did it by setting up an extremely expensive mechanism. And they did it that way, because they had nothing else to do. They had money to spend and they found ways to spend their time. For private use.
The secret services of this country, headed by the Prime Minister, his nephew and his best friend, knew nothing. And they understood nothing. In short, their privates fell asleep. When they woke up, they lost it, they fell from the clouds.
Meanwhile, those being watched – except for Androulakis and Koukakis – swallowed their tongues. Why were they being watched? I know too? They acted on the logic of “since we have nothing to hide, let them watch us as long as they want. At most, they can find out what food we ate yesterday and what we are preparing for tomorrow.”
The country's highest court, through its Deputy Prosecutor, confirmed this story. It downgraded the case and ruled that there was no political responsibility. Everyone, except private individuals, was found innocent of the crime.
Is the fairy tale nice? That's fine! It takes effort to believe it, but that's how it is with fairy tales. Usually little children believe them. Sometimes even big children, especially when they are government ministers or people dependent on the government.
Let's now get to reality, or at least to what seems more logical.
The individuals did not do the work themselves, because that's how they were screwed. The evidence shows that they had connections with the Greek government and a parallel mechanism within the EYP that operated as a center for the use of illegal software.
All of this leads to the reasonable conclusion that the EYP did not fall from the clouds. It knew and it knew wrong. Which means that the Prime Minister is not innocent of the blood. Neither are his close associates in the Maximos Mansion.
In short, they have, at best, political responsibilities. It is not possible for a service (EYP) inside the Maximos Mansion to set up a side shop and not be aware of it, neither you nor the people you absolutely trust.
There is a big issue. To put it elegantly, there is an issue of adequacy. And because I cannot believe that there are so many inadequate people at M. Maximou, I conclude that they were working normally and according to the law.
In any case, the fairy tale of wiretapping has come to an end.
