Η Microsoft assisted the police by providing useful information, which led to the arrest of a pedophile in the US according to the BBC.
According to the publication, the man was found to be in possession of two illegal photos of naked children in his OneDrive account that he tried to send with the Outlook.com email service. The arrest took place on July 31 following the information provided by Microsoft.
PhotoDNA's technology assigns to each photo automatically a digital signature, which is then used to compare images. In this way, if an image has already been flagged as illegal, Microsoft will notify the law enforcement authorities.
The man as reported by the BBC has been jailed and his trial scheduled for next week.
