Pidgin is a chat program that allows you to connect to your accounts on multiple chat networks at the same time. This means you can chat with friends on XMPP and watch an IRC channel, or chat on Facebook Messanger at the same time.
Pidgin is running at Windows, Linux and other UNIX-like operating systems. Looking for Pidgin for OS X? Try it Adium!
Pidgin is compatible with the following chat networks: Jabber / XMPP, Bonjour, Gadu-Gadu, IRC, Novell GroupWise Messenger, Lotus Sametime, SILC, SIMPLE and Zephyr. It can support many more networks with addons.
Essentially the application can connect you to any existing chat network as long as you add it suitable addon (plugin).
The Pidgin application is constantly evolving. Releases are usually frequent and come from user contributions such as bug reports and patches.
Pidgin is free and does not contain ads. All of our code is open source and available under the GNU General Public License. This means that you can download the Pidgin app code and modify it according to your needs, as long as you publish your changes for everyone to benefit from.
