Pidgin is a chat program that allows you to connect to your accounts on multiple chat networks at the same time. This means you can chat with friends on XMPP and watch an IRC channel or Facebook Messenger chat at the same time.
Pidgin runs on Windows, Linux, and other UNIX-like operating systems. Looking for Pidgin for OS X? Try Adium!
Pidgin is compatible with the following chat networks: Jabber/XMPP, Bonjour, Gadu-Gadu, IRC, Novell GroupWise Messenger, Lotus Sametime, SILC, SIMPLE, and Zephyr. It can support many more networks with addons. Essentially, the application can connect you to any chat network that exists, as long as you add the appropriate addon (plugin).
The Pidgin application is constantly evolving. Releases are usually frequent and come from user contributions such as bug reports and patches.
Pidgin is free and has no ads. All of our code is open source and available under the GNU General Public License. This means that you can download the Pidgin code and modify it according to your needs, as long as you publish the changes you made to benefit everyone.

Although the press releases will range from very select to rare, I said I'd pass...because sometimes the editors hide.
