Pidgin is a chat program that allows you to connect to your accounts on several chat networks at the same time. This means you can chat with friends on XMPP and watch one at the same time channel on IRC, or chats on Facebook Messanger.
Pidgin is running at Windows, Linux and other UNIX-like operating systems. Looking for Pidgin for OS X? Try it Adium!
Pidgin is compatible with the following chat networks: Jabber/XMPP, Bonjour, Gadu-Gadu, IRC, Novell GroupWise Messenger, Lotus Sametime, SILC, SIMPLE, and Zephyr. It can support many more networks with addons. Essentially the app can connect you with any network conversations that exist as long as you add the suitable addon (plugin).
The Pidgin application is constantly evolving. Releases are usually frequent and come from user contributions such as bug reports and patches.
Pidgin is free and contains no ads. All of our code is open source and available under GNU General Public License. This means that you can download the Pidgin code and modify it according to your needs, as long as you publish the changes you made to benefit everyone.
