Πιθανά οι περισσότεροι δεν γνωρίζετε το πρόγραμμα Pidgin, αν και θα έπρεπε. Πρόκειτε για να δωρεάν, ανοικτού κώδικα, πρόγραμμα που τρέχει σε Windows, linux, Ubuntu, MacOSX and can collect all your chat applications in one.
So it accepts data from chat networks AIM, ICQ, Google Talk, Jabber/XMPP, MSN Messenger, Yahoo!, Bonjour, Gadu-Gadu, IRC, Novell GroupWise Messenger, Lotus Sametime, SILC, SIMPLE, MXit, MySpaceIM, and Zephyr so you have them all in a single window. And in addition, with the installation of a plugin, it also accepts the skype network.
But besides the ease of having all the chat rooms in a program, it speaks Greek and is overly secure since it is open source, and has third party plugins which increase its security. For example, the OTR (Off the record messaging) plugin, which encrypts all of your conversations between you and a contact, resulting in an intermediary (say, Google Chat) seeing encrypted text.
At new version 2.10.8 Pidgin fixes about 20 user comments, and makes several improvements. Some problem with Facebook chat when it comes through XMPP has not been fixed but our company urges us to wait a little longer.
