The Pidgin is a chat program that allows you to connect to your accounts in several chat networks at the same time. This means you can chat with friends on XMPP and watch an IRC channel at the same time, or talks on Facebook Messenger.
Pidgin runs on Windows, Linux and other UNIX operating systems. Are you looking for Pidgin for OS X? Try Adium!
Pidgin is compatible with the following chat networks: Jabber / XMPP, Bonjour, Gadu-Gadu, IRC, Novell GroupWise Messenger, Lotus Sametime, SILC, SIMPLE and Zephyr. It can support many more networks with addons.
Essentially the application can connect you to any existing chat network as long as you add it suitable addon (plugin).
The Pidgin application is constantly evolving. Releases are usually frequent and come from user contributions such as bug reports and patches.
Pidgin is free and has no ads. All of our code is open source and available under the GNU General Public License. This means that you can download the Pidgin code and modify it according to your needs, as long as you publish the changes you made to benefit everyone.
