Pidgin is a program conversations that allows you to log in to your accounts on multiple chat networks at the same time. This means you can chat with friends on XMPP and simultaneously monitor an IRC channel, or chats on Facebook Messenger.

Pidgin is compatible with the following chat networks: Jabber / XMPP, Bonjour, Gadu-Gadu, IRC, Novell GroupWise Messenger, Lotus Sametime, SILC, SIMPLE and Zephyr. It can support many more networks with addons.
Essentially the application can connect you to any existing chat network as long as you add it suitable addon (plugin).
The Pidgin application is constantly evolving. Traffic is usually frequent and comes from user contributions such as bug reports and updates at code.
Pidgin is free and has no ads. All of our code is open source and available under the GNU General Public License. This means that you can download the Pidgin code and modify it according to your needs, as long as you publish the changes you made to benefit everyone.
