Xiaomi's Poco mobile phone model is becoming an independent brand and now follows its own strategy to penetrate the global smartphone market.
The name Poco, which since 2018 was used as the name of Xiaomi mobile phone model and specifically as Pocophone F1, is becoming independent and is following its own path.
Friends of the affordable phone will now come across it as an independent company. This means that we will soon see a new Poco smartphone on the market, in which Xiaomi will not appear anywhere.
Η information brought to us by Xiaomi itself, through its Vice President in India Mr. Manu Jain. In particular, he states that "Poco will now run with her own team and market strategy. Poco, who started as a model, has developed her own ID card, shortly. The Poco F1 is a hugely popular phone across user groups and remains a top contender in its class, even in 2020. We feel it's only right to let POCO run on its own.”
Do all these remind you of anything? Something something similar happened last year with Redmi, which has also been released as an independent brand since the beginning of 2019. They seem to be trying the same strategy recipe again. However, Xiaomi claims that unlike Redmi, Poco will have nothing to do with Xiaomi. The Redmi brand still falls under the Xiaomi umbrella, but the same does not seem to be the case with Poco.
The news was also rebroadcast by today's Pocophone Global Head, Mr. Alvin Che via Twitter. Che is also the CEO of Xiaomi Indonesia, so it is unclear whether he will continue to run Poco or not.
Whether the two companies will continue to share the same e.gconditions design and research, will be seen in the near future.
