Print the contents of a folder with Chrome or Firefox

If you want to print the contents of a folder (directory) either to a file or to your printer, then there is a quick way to do it using Chrome or the Firefox web browser.

print2 firefox

Surely the following way will look simpler than you imagine. Open it Google Chrome or Firefox and type the path of the folder you are interested in, in the address bar, and then press ENTER.

The browser will immediately show you the contents of the folder, sorted by name, with the subfolders at the top. You can sort the contents as you like, size, or modification date base. Just click the column header to sort by this column.

print

You will notice some differences in the preview of browsers. Chrome, on the other hand, does not reproduce the icons that accompany each type of file and directory, while Firefox has no problem with this.

Especially for Firefox, you can apply your own style to the content page of your directory, such as changing the font, or removing the files / folders icons or changing the spaces between columns,
While in Firefox open “Style ” from “Developer Tools”. If you don't know how, just press the Shift + F7 keys at the same time (Alternatively, click the F12 key (or Ctrl + Shift + i) and then click “Style Editor”).
You will see the style of displaying the contents of the directory. You can hurt it as much as you like. Once you close Firefox, things get back to their original state and you do not have to worry about ruining something. For example, if you do not want the icons next to the file name to appear, type the following at the beginning of the style editor:

.dir :: after {content: "/"} img {display: none}

styleeditor

Information: On the Internet and in Microsoft Edge, when you type a directory path in the taskbar the browser will display the contents of the directory like Explorer, instead of just listing the file and subdirectory names.
