The Public Domain Image Archive (PDIA) — created by The Public Domain Review (PDR) — is a curated collection of more than 10.000 copyright-free historical images, free for everyone to explore and reuse.
The goal of PDIA is to provide a platform that will serve as both a practical resource and a place for simple browsing. We are talking about an ever-expanding portal for you to discover more than 2000 years of visual culture.
A valuable image archive, offering carefully selected snapshots from hundreds of galleries, libraries, archives and museums, PDIA also functions as a database of images featured in the PDR.
Featured images are linked to a related article from PDR where one can read about the stories surrounding the works. Visitors looking for more sources will also find links to the institutions where the image was located — from small college libraries to national repositories.
