The Organization of the Economic Cowork and Development (OECD) together with the General Secretariat for the Fight against Corruption (GE.GA.KA.D.), the Harokopion University and the Open Technologies Organization (EELLAK), is organizing a Hackathon for Integrity in the Public Sector.
This is a participatory programming marathon addressed to students, academic researchers, developers, as well as to all those interested in anti-corruption issues seeking ways to raise awareness about these issues in society.
Corruption in the public sector is one of the most corrosive phenomena of our time. It leads to waste of public resources, sharpens economic and social inequalities, gives ground to dissatisfaction and political polarization, and reduces confidence in public institutions.
Risks for the emergence of corruption phenomena are found in the various interactions between the public and private sectors, civil society and individuals at all levels of procedureof making political decisions. Thus, to address these risks arising from transactions between citizens and the government, to strengthen integrity and to reduce the phenomena of corruption in the public sector, the involvement of all of society is required.
Hackathon aims to promote the development of ideas and innovative solutions for the active participation of citizens in the prevention and fight against corruption in Greece. It is an open call for positive actions and initiatives that will change the everyday life of citizens.
The Hackathon will be held at the Department of Informatics and Telematics of Harokopio University (Omirou 9, Tavros, for instructions access δείτε το χάρτη), καλούνται να συμμετέχουν φοιτητές, ακαδημαϊκοί-ερευνητές, start–up businesses, developers as well as others interested in anti-corruption and public awareness issues.
