Qualcomm Sense ID: Qualcomm today introduced a new scanner fingerprint, and if it's as good as the company promises, it should be even better than Apple's Touch ID.
The Sense ID, it could take your fingerprints, even if your hands are a little sweaty, dirty or damp. A common complaint with Apple's Touch ID is that the fingerprint sensor does not work well with sweaty or damp fingers.
Qualcomm's technology improves upon existing scanners that already verify fingerprints in 3D using ultrasound sound technology. They collect features such as the size of fingerprint lines which secures the device from known unlock scams. Most sensors today only read fingerprints in 2D, a limitation that makes it easier for hackers to reproduce fingerprints taken on, say, a glass.
Qualcomm's new 3D sensor can also scan through glass, aluminum, stainless steel, sapphire and plastic, according to the company, so a device maker could embed the scanner in any part of the new productincluding herself screen of your phone.
The sensor technology will be directly compatible with processors Snapdragon 810 and 425 from Qualcomm, and Sense ID will be available as a standalone feature.
Of course we have not yet seen Qualcomm's scanner in action, so we can not know its effectiveness. Let's wait and see ..
