The Cybercrime Prosecution Directorate draws attention to users smartphones, σχετικά με κακόβουλο λογισμικό (ransomware) το οποίο προσβάλει συσκευές κινητής τηλεφωνίας εμφανίζοντας message that the archives have been locked by the police and that a sum of money is required to unlock them.
This malware (ransomware) has been reported in a large number of overseas countries where with appropriate positioning mechanisms it recognizes the country where the user is located and displays a corresponding message from the National Police of the respective state.
This malware is mainly distributed through websites and advertisements and mostly infects devices with functional "Android", while according to the latest reports, devices that work with another operating system as well as "tablets" are also included.
It is noted that in the majority of cases malware does not really lock the files and can be removed by simple procedures as opposed to malicious software that infects computers and encrypts the contents of files.
