In the last few days, the torrent website RARBG has started distributing an .exe file along with every torrents. But everyone knows that torrented executable files containing movies are often malicious software, and so the page's friends seem to have panicked.
However, there is no danger. The RARBG website has been on the internet for more than ten years, and continues to be one of the most popular pages.
In the last few days, however, the page has gone into an unusual step by making site friends wondering what has happened.
If you take a look at the contents of the new torrents that the website uploads you will also see an .exe file named 'RARBG_DO_NOT_MIRROR.exe'.
Generally when you watch video torrents that contain .exe files, you should not download them because they are usually viruses.
But in the case of RARBG, you should not worry. If you rename the file and give it the .txt extension, you will see that it contains the following information:
"It's not an .exe file. This is just a placeholder to avoid mirroring on other public sites. ”
So, since it's a simple text file, why do RARBG add it to their torrents?
The page releases thousands of torrents every week, which are automatically mirrored to others platforms. .exe files cause suspicion in the scripts used to automate mirroring, thus stopping the automatic cloning. Most sites do not allow uploading files .exe in video categories.
"[.Exe file] is included in torrent files to stop distribution to other public sites," RARBG administrators say in the FAQ.
The ".exe" experiment, according to the administrators, "has reduced the average hit & run by 35%!"
