Red Hat has announced the release of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.0, the last major release of the distribution now owned by IBM.
Among the major changes in this version is an attempt to confirm the integrity of the operating system with digital signatures and hashes:
“Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9 also brings digital hashes and architecture signatures measurementof integrity (IMA from integrity measurement architecture). With the integrity measurement architecture, users can verify the integrity of their operating system with digital signatures and hashes.
This helps identify malicious infrastructure modifications, making it easier to limit the possibility infringementof the systems.
Further support for open hybrid cloud architectures and environments. Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9 distribution will be available on IBM Cloud and will have the basic security features and possibilities of IBM Power Systems and IBM Z.
Combining hardware-focused hardware capabilities of IBM architectures with security enhancements in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9 provides the innovation, power, and security capabilities that many organizations need in hybrid cloud computing. ”
Existing Red Hat customers can download the new version from Customer Portal of the company, while potential new users can download and try it out 60-day evaluation version.
