The YouTube revives hundreds of classic music videos in HD quality. In collaboration with Universal Music Group (UMG), around 1.000 old music videos, in SD quality, will be revamped.
The purpose of YouTube is to upgrade the old classic hits from SD to HD, bringing them to modern standards. The announcement was made by a position on the Official YouTube Blog, where he explains the ambitious work. The company states that some music videos are "only available in the obsolete standards originally intended for TV shows with monaural speakers".
As people watch and listen to music videos on different devices, and as most of them support high-definition video, it is born problem for the old ones technology video. As such, YouTube “upscales these videos, significantly improving viewing quality, whether on mobile, desktop or laptops".
So far YouTube has already posted 100 reviewed music videos, by Boyz II Men, Janet Jackson, Lady Gaga, Meat Loaf, The Killers, Tom Petty and the Beastie Boys and others. And by the end of 2020, YouTube expects all 1.000 titles to be available.
You can easily identify which of your favorite music videos have been updated as well as their description referred to as “Remastered”. The redesigned versions will replace the originals, with the URL, number of views and number of likes retained.
