Despite the promising entry of Microsoft Edge in fact, it is not exactly what one would expect, on the contrary, it received strong criticism both for its functionality and for its violation of privacy of its users.

However, Edge is closely associated with the basic components of Windows 10, which means you can not just get rid of it like other pre-installed applications.

Fortunately, you can take the situation in your hands and somehow sabotage the Edge, and not re-appear, even if you use a different default web browser.

Note: Before proceeding with the following steps, remember that Edge is a basic component of Windows, and removing it can cause stability problems. While in fact we just suggest ignoring it if it has disappointed you, you will find instructions on how to remove it anyway.

Removing Edge from Windows 10… .. Taking the situation into your own hands

For security reasons, Microsoft has made it nearly impossible for some system files and folders to be renamed, moved, or deleted, even if te an administrator account. The same is true for Edge, so you'll need to get owner rights to be able to remove it.

Note: Make sure you're using an Administrator account.

Step 1: Go to this location C: \ Windows \ SystemApps and look for a folder named Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge_8wekyb3d8bbwe.

Step 2: Right-click the paradox of the Edge folder to access its properties.

Step 3: Go to the Security tab and click the Advanced button for special licenses or advanced settings.

The first row of information that appears appears in Name and Owner. You have to become the owner.

Step 4: Follow the link to change the owner, so the folder is no longer TrustedInstaller.

Step 5: In the window that appears, click the large text field and write Administrators (plural). Then, click the button next to Check Names. Windows automatically detects and suggests the administrator account.

Step 6: Press OK to confirm the changes. Go back to the Advanced Security Settings panel.

Step 7: In the first set of information, in this with the Change link, there must now be an option to replace the Owner in the subfolders and objects. Make sure it is selected and press OK.

Step 8: Return to the properties table of the folder, click Edit to change the permissions.

Step 9: Select Administrators accounts from the Group or User Names window, and then check the Allow check box for full control. Click Apply and OK to confirm the changes, and then OK to close the Properties window to become the owner.

Important note: Now that you have full control over the Edge folder, DO NOT delete or delete it, as there is a risk that you may cause serious issues of system stability. What you need to do is create a backup if you decide to use Edge again, or why unpredictable consequences may occur.

Step 10 (optional): See the properties of the folder table again. At the bottom of the General tab, highlight the Read only checkbox until a check mark ✓ and not a square ✓ appears. Click Apply and OK to confirm.

This prevents Windows from accessing and making changes to all files within the folder, making Edge impossible.

Step 11: See the Edge folder and rename the files MicrosoftEdge.exe and MicrosoftEdgeCP.exe, or if you want to delete them completely. You can also unpin Edge from the taskbar.

Note: If you ever decide to use Edge in the future, simply rename the executable files to something else, but remember or understand easily how it was before you change them to make Edge work again.

Important note: Think twice before applying this method, because once you do, there is a small chance that you will not be able to get back to Edge again.

In addition, once you make the decision to throw out Edge, it would be a good idea to change its default browser (currently not working in Greece), since it goes hand in hand with Edge.
