You can rename a file in Explorer Windows by selecting it and pressing F2. But what happens when you want to rename multiple files at once? There are many alternative file management applications available to you. For example, Total Commander has a really impressive tool called "Multi-Rename."
But we here at iGuRu.gr insist on doing everything without third party tools. Did you know that Explorer, the default file manager of Windows 8 (and more), allows you to rename multiple files at once?
Let's see how
1. Open a folder with many files in File Explorer. To open it easily you can press the keys shortcut Win + E together on your keyboard.
Select more than one file or folder. To do so, press and hold it key Ctrl and click each file, then release the Ctrl key. Another way to select files is by using the arrow keys and the space. Hold down the Ctrl key, and press the arrow keys to select multiple files using the Space bar. To select them all, press Ctrl + A together.
Now press the F2 key on the keyboard. The name of the first file will be editable.
Another alternative is after you have selected all folders or files to right-click on a folder and rename or rename them.
Write the desired name to the folder or file. All names will change with the one you typed, along with a serial number.
If a folder name contains a dot (such as the folder iGuRu.gr the last part will not change as you see in the last photo.
