Rescatux is a live GNU / Linux distribution based on Debian. THE distribution includes a graphical guide to rescuing corrupted GNU / Linux installations.
But besides this there are other rescue options available that include resetting the GRUB boot loader after some Windows installation, resetting passwords on Linux and Windows systems and also checking on Linux file systems.
The latest snapshot, Rescatux 0.73, is based on the Debian 10 Buster and brings several fixes and improvements.
"Rescatux 0,74 has been released. The last fixed version of Rescatux was released in October 2012 - about eight years ago. Many changes have been made to Rescatux since then. Options for UEFI have been added in 2015. Secure Boot support has been added. Rescapp has had some serious usability issues that have been fixed. When running a selection you never know if it worked well. The status for the selection is now displayed. Finally, the full nightmare of pop-ups that appeared when you ran a selection has been replaced by nice color scrolling messages. One of the best improvements made recently.
Rescatux 0.74 supports booting from UEFI Secure Boot and traditional BIOS. Amd64 and i686 systems are supported. ”
