Rescatux is a Debian based GNU / Linux distribution. The distribution includes a graphic guide to rescue damaged GNU / Linux installations.
But apart from that there are other rescue options available which include resetting the GRUB boot loader after a Windows installation, password reset on Linux and Windows systems and checks on systems files Linux.
The last Development snapshot, Rescatux 0.72 Beta1, is based on Debian 10 Buster and brings several fixes and improvements.
“This is another beta version of Rescatux. This new version has two important fixes: GRUB recovery on distributions come with tmpfs capability, such as Ubuntu. Some UEFI systems with the feature disabled Secure Boots that used to crash in Rescapp no longer crash.
Finally the Rescapp menu has changed. Both the UEFI boot menu and the BIOS boot menu work. Added the xterm package so that external programs can be opened from within rescapp. We moved the testdisk package dependency from Rescapp to Rescatux background and boot menus improved. We are using Debian Buster which is now officially stable.”
