Google brings up “Reset Credentials”, a feature that simplifies transferring app credentials when switching Android devices to keep you signed in to your apps.
While some apps already do this, Google makes it easy for developers to include this feature by implementing a “restore key” that automatically transfers to the new phone and reconnects you to the app.
Restoring Credentials, or “Restore Credentials,” requires less effort than the previous approach on Android and can automatically check if a restore key is available to sign in again upon first app launch. The recovery key is a public key that uses the existing infrastructure passkey to use your credentials.
Recovery keys can also be saved as cloud backups, although developers do not have access to this feature. For this reason, transferring directly from device to device will still be more functional than restoring from the cloud, as is the case with Apple devices today.
Specifically, Google says that the reset keys won't carry over if you delete an app and reinstall it.
