Today the second stable was released version of the project, Rocky Linux 8.5.
The developers report:
“We are pleased to announce the general availability of Rocky Linux 8.5 (Green Obsidian). Rocky Linux is a community enterprise operating system designed to be 100% bug-for-bug compatible with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.5. Since this is the second release of Rocky Linux, the release notes below only reflect changes in functionality between point releases. "
The distribution's release notes have more details along with tips to convert from other members of the Enterprise Linux family:
“The community has created the migrate2rocky tool to help convert to Rocky Linux 8.5 from other Enterprise Linux systems. This tool has been tested and works, however its use is at your own risk. Community members have successfully converted Rocky Linux systems from: Alma Linux (8.5), CentOS Linux (8.5), Red Hat Enterprise Linux (8.5), and Oracle Linux (8.5).”
