Roscosmos, the Federal Space Agency of Russia, is preparing to leave the base of Baikonur Cosmodrome. It is already building its new cosmodrome the Vostochny Cosmodrome (Eastern Spaceport) in the Russian Far East.
According to the plans, when Roscosmos' Vostochny Cosmodrome is completed, it will reduce Russia's dependence on Kazakhstan, which currently hosts the Baikonur Cosmodrome, from where the first man launched to go to space.
After many years of design, redesign and postponement, the new space platform began to take shape this year in the new Amur district.
Roscosmos specialists recently completed the installation of the first set of equipment in the Command: the self-propelled launching system, and are now in trial mode.
They have also begun to build the rocket moving unit to take on trains, as shown in the photos.
The huge electro-hydraulic superstructure of rocket belt support on the launching platform is ready to stand alone, just like the 50 meter tower and 1500 mobile phone service.
The radar domes and the antennas and the dish of the complex communication system seem to have been completed as well.
If all goes well, Soyuz-2 launches will take place from LD1 this year. The Russian space agency released the following photos on Facebook, Flickr.
