Samsung 256GB UFS: Samsung introduced a Universal Flash Storage (UFS) card that features a read speed five times faster than a conventional card MicroSD.
The Samsung 256GB UFS card is the best on the external memory market right now and with a read speed of 530MBps it is equivalent to 2,5-inch solid-state drives (SSDs), according to the company's statements.
The company says the card can read one video Full HD (5GB) in 10 seconds. So it comes to help those working with 3D virtual reality (VR) video on cameras, action cams, DSLRs, and drones.
The write speed is at 170MBps, two times higher than conventional microSD cards, thus allowing a DSLR camera to save 24 images (about 1,120MB) within 6 seconds. To store the same data on older cards, the same machine needed 32 seconds.
Therefore, UFS card traffic to 256GB as internal memory is aimed at smartphones. The project was first announced in February and started with a 128GB UFS capacity in January last year.
The card also comes in 128GB, 64MB and 32GB models that will be released later.
