Samsung is reported to have given money to the daughter of Choi Soon-sil, a close friend of President Park. Choi has been imprisoned as he used his influence to influence national affairs with bribes from various groups.

The South Korean company reportedly gave ₩3000000000 billion (about $3 million) to Choi through a company called Widec Sports based in , with the nominal excuse of supporting Choi's daughter's equestrian education.

When this claim came to the surface earlier this month, Samsung denied giving money to Widec Sports.

So today the prosecutors also raided the Equestrian in Korea and specifically in the Korea Equestrian Federation but also in the Korea Horse Affairs Association.

Let's say Samsung Electronics Chairman Sang-jin is president of the Korea Equestrian Federation, so his office was also the target of this raid.

This is the first time a raid by authorities in Samsung's headquarters since the corruption scandal erupted eight years ago.

But the company was also accused in the past of creating black funds to pay bribes to senior government officials.
