Samsung Health will delete your data if you don't give it to Samsung

Samsung has begun notifying users that they will have to consent to the use of their personal health data to train new artificial intelligence models or risk losing it forever.samsung health logo

The company added a “Consent to the Use of Health Data for AI training and modelling” option to the Samsung Health app settings and forces users to agree to these terms if they want to have their information backed up.

This option gives Samsung the right to use your personal measurements to train and improve algorithms. If you try to disable this option, your app will stop with a warning that says:samsung health

Backing out of this agreement?

You will not be able to sync health data with your Samsung account and your health data will be deleted unless retained in accordance with applicable law. If retention is required, we will delete it once the required retention period has expired.

Samsung said the data it collects will “improve Samsung Health” through improved machine learning algorithms that analyze conditions. The company plans to include four categories: your sleep, your medications, your medical records, and your cycle tracking details.

The company also said that people (perhaps Samsung employees and third-party partners) will be able to review some of the data collected.
