Samsung: TV with functional Tizen

During the Tizen Developer Conference, which is held in San Francisco, Samsung presented, among others, a TV with built-in Tizen operating system.

The prototype of the television presented, incorporates the Tizen operating system and allows the user to perform a range of functions. Through the TV tuner it can connect to the Internet, view photos and videos, listen to music and theoretically download apps, although there are currently not many compatible applications for use on such televisions.

It is worth noting that Samsung is not the only one που δημιουργεί λειτουργικό σύστημα για χρήση από τηλεοράσεις.

Yes, in a parallel LG announced that it has already sold more than one million WebOS "smart" TVs since their launch last March and expects sales to reach 10 million by the first half of 2015.

The company also presented Tizen based cameras, although none of them supports Tizen applications. According to the company, the use of Tizen allows for improved battery life and performance. In total, four Samsung models will be compatible with Tizen: NX300, NX300m, NX2000 and NX30.

Of particular interest is the Tizen CloudBox service. The program will work almost like a "warehouse" of all the cloud accounts the user has, displaying all the files in a folder. CloudBox will support accounts from Dropbox, Box, SugarSync, Google Drive, One Drive, and Amazon S3. Although the Tizen CloudBox service is still in its prototype stage, Samsung's intention is to launch its commercial launch soon.

As CNet points out, Samsung is the world's largest Android device maker. However, Tizen's development, in collaboration with Intel over the past three years, shows that it wants an alternative to Google's operating system. In fact, last-minute presentations show Samsung's intention to be as independent as possible, creating an integrated software and application ecosystem that will be fully controlled by itself.
