Pat Riehecky has announced the release of Scientific Linux 6.10, the final build of the distribution based on Red Hat. This version will be supported until November 2020.
To mention that the distributions CentOS, and Scientific Linux use Red Hat as their base. The latest version of the two forks closely follows the RHEL version, which is currently at 7.5.

The version we publish today (Scientific Linux 6 build 10), as we mentioned above and you can see in the above picture is the last version of 6 as it will continue to be supported until 2020.
Scientific Linux 6.10 i386/x86_64 is the final version of EL6, with major fixes security and critical bug updates. Please run yum clean expire-cache. More changes from SL 6.9:
The distribution uses the Scientific Linux 6.10 repositories, OpenAFS, updated in 1.6.22.3.
Changes compared to Enterprise 6: httpd changed the default index.html to remove το Red Hat branding, στο Plymouth αφαιρέθηκαν τα κόκκινα colors, and generally all redhat logos are gone. Background change, GDM and KDM changed tradedress style, Anaconda added Scientific Linux. DVDs no longer ask for a network unless necessary, redhat-rpm-config changed to recognize Scientific Linux as Enterprise Linux.
