When the Western Digital announced its new 6 TB capacity discs, we would have to wait for the next move Seagate. H company announced the first 8TB capacity discs.
Do not expect to find them on the retail shelves, as they are not intended for the general public.
Their price, which is likely to be high enough, has not yet been revealed.
These hard drives are ideal for cloud computing servers and the data Centers. Even if the systems use SSDs in the incoming and outgoing communications, most of the data, like the creation backups and so on, will be able to use platters of 8 TB disks.
8 TB discs will have the same number of platters as the 6 TB units (5 platters). Just the density of the data will be much higher than it was before.
