There are many torrent file search options. The usual ones are through the use of torrent websites and general search engines in public or private forums, by trackers or specialized torrent search software. QBittorrent supports searching torrents directly from its environment without the need for any plugins or additional software.
The following guide shows you how to perform searches using the qBittorent client program and what you can and cannot do to search.
Probably the biggest advantage of using a built-in search option is that you can search and download using a single program. The latest stable version of qBittorrent is 4.1.4 and was released yesterday.
Search qBittorent
To get started, select View> Search Engine. This command will unlock the search tab. From there, start by typing a search term into the search field at the top. You can immediately click search or use the supplied filters to filter the results.
The two main options provided by qBittorrent search are firstly the ability to select a category of torrents (eg TV shows, software, movie, etc.), and secondly the choice of search engines.
The default choice of search engines includes Pirate Bay, ExtraTorrent, Demonoid, Legit Torrents and Kickass Torrents. You can block results from any site and install new search plugins for sites that are not supported by default.
Plugins
If you want to install such a plugin, then go to unofficial list of search plugins for qBittorent to find out if your favorite torrent search engines or sites are supported. There you can find plugins for YTS, ETTV, ExtraTorrent and a lot more. The download link will download a Python file with a .py extension. Just save it to the same folder as qBittorent and select it from the "Only enabled" menu. In the window that appears, click on "Install a new one" and select the downloaded file to install it as a new search add-on in qBittorrent.
Note that you can enable or disable search engines by right-clicking on them and selecting the "enabled" option that changes the status.
Search results in qBittorrent
It only takes a few seconds before the results start appearing on the same page. You can perform many searches one after the other. Each search loads on a different tab, so you do not miss out on previous search results.
In addition to the search filters there is also the classification. A click on a scoreboard header sorts the data accordingly, e.g. depending on size, seeders or name.
Once you find a promising result, select it and click the Download button or click the "Go to destination page" button to open the torrent file on the linked site.
The download button starts the default add torrent dialog box to add the torrent to qBittorrent so that it can start downloading.
Summary
