Secret Crush: Facebook he said at F8 conference a new feature on Facebook Dating, apparently designed to help individual users attract potential mates from their friends by adding them to a seemingly private list of people.
Here's how the new feature should work:
You will be able to add up to nine people to a “Secret Crush” list. These nine people will each receive one notice which will tell them that someone has added them to a Secret Crush list. They'll be able to add their own people to their own private list, and if they add you, you'll both get a notification to talk about it on Messenger.
Usually, regular Facebook and Facebook Dating exist in two different realms - your profile for one is not the same as your profile for another.
The Secret Crush mode will be the first (and hopefully only) crossover between the two. In the paper, sounds like a nice feature, specially designed for shy or introverted people who want to express their interest in someone or other. With the new feature they won't feel embarrassed or something else bad when their interest hits a wall (crash).
It is assumed that no one will know who is who, unless it is interesting and connected.
On the other hand, if you consider the huge data leaks of Facebook and in general the relaxed attitude that the social network has towards consumer data, then the above news will probably cause you concern. After a year of scandals with leaks of personal data, starting with the Cambridge Analytica, I do not think I would trust Facebook for my birthday, let alone a super secret list of girlfriends I see erotically.
Facebook Dating can give Facebook's advertising partners the chance to have more of your preferences.
Facebook Dating starts today in 14 countries. The list does not include Greece, which is expected to start sometime this year.
