Secunia: Windows 8 is now the most vulnerable OS

While Microsoft continues to work hard to make the 8 και 8.1 πιο ασφαλή, μια νέα έρευνα της Secunia που κυκλοφόρησε σήμερα (PDF) shows that Windows vulnerabilities have doubled since last year and that the latest software version of Microsoft is the most vulnerable of all versions that are still supported at this time.

The security firm discovered over 350 vulnerabilities in Windows XP, 7, and 8 in 2013, and its statistics confirm that despite all the updates released by Microsoft, the final number doubled compared to 2012 figures.

WINDOWS SECUNIA

Overall, Windows 7 had total 102 vulnerabilities, from 50 that had 2012, while Windows XP, which is said to stop supporting after a month, had only 99 security blanks, 49 over the previous year.

Of course, the platform itself is not responsible for this, reports Secunia, but its use from Internet Explorer which was the main reason why so many vulnerabilities have been reported in Windows 8.

WINDOWS SECUNIA 1

Internet Explorer 10, the default Windows 8 browser, comes with a built-in Flash Player, which means that Microsoft should collaborate with Adobe to optimize its own browser.

A comprehensive chart that includes operating system vulnerabilities, Microsoft programs, and vulnerabilities in third-party applications shows that all versions of Windows still supported by the company had more than 1.200 security gaps last year, with the Windows 8 to have the first, with 1.261 vulnerabilities.

Microsoft has, of course, managed to deal with all these security gaps quite dignified and claims that Windows 8 is still the safest version of its operating systems to date.
