View recent files from any application in Windows 10

In there is an almost unknown feature which can show you the recently modified files from a particular application. This way, you can find a file you were looking for, much faster. Let's see how it can be done.

Windows

As you may already know, Windows 10 collect lists of recently used files () και περισσότερο χρησιμοποιημένων φακέλων σε μια νέα προεπιλεγμένη θέση στο File . The special virtual folder “Quick Access” keeps links to pinned folders and links to recently used sites and files. If you modify or create many files, it may be difficult to locate the required file in this folder later because the list of files will be huge.

But you can use the search to filter the newly used files by application.

This not so well-known ability in Windows 10 is provided by Cortana, which is represented by the search box on the taskbar. To see newly modified files from a specific application in Windows 10, do the following.

1. Click the search box on the taskbar to turn it on. You can also find Search in the list of applications.

2.Type in the search box the name of the application you are interested in.

Tip: Even if you've disabled the search box, you can type anything directly right after opening the Start menu! Even if you do not see any search box !!!

3. Once Cortana has found the app, the list of recently created and modified files will appear under its name.

In the example above, we used the XnView image display application to find its recent files. The same can be done for Acrobat Reader and any embedded or third-party designer application.

Please note that some applications do not support this useful feature. They can prevent Windows from tracking their recent files. For example, if an application does not have a file association, the list of recently modified files will for this application.

The ability to search for newly created or modified files is based on the jump list function. If the shortcut list has been disabled, you will not see anything.
