Microsoft is preparing an ad-free Skype and we will see it in an update that will be released soon on all platforms. The update also includes improved AI image creation tools in Skype for Windows and macOS and the ability to automatically sign in to iOS (OneAuth integration in Skype for iOS) if you're already signed in to another Microsoft app.
"Our latest update removes all ads from Skype channels and the entire Skype platform, ensuring a smoother, cleaner and more enjoyable user experience," he says Skype Product Manager Irene Namuganyi;
Removing ads in Skype means that you will no longer see ads on the main chat screen or in the channels section. Microsoft says it listened to user feedback about ads in Skype and decided to "focus on ad-free conversations, making your Skype experience cleaner and more user-friendly."
However, the MSN-powered Skype news feeds will remain, along with “today”. You can disable this tab from Settings > Appearance.
Here's hoping Microsoft listens to user feedback about Windows ads, too.
We will see the changes in the upcoming update in the next few days.
