Microsoft released an update to it Skype Preview for those registered with Windows Insider. The application will run on Windows 10 PC and Mobile and will allow you to send and receive SMS directly from your PC or Windows Phone.
We need to clarify that this feature is different from the existing paid Skype service as it will allow you to send and receive messages via your phone or via your computer for free.
Insiders should configure Skype as the main SMS program from the app settings.
Microsoft says it will make available this version of Skype that can send free SMS to the public within the next two months as it plans to add extra features and enhancements.
Some of them already exist in the last build preview and allow concealing conversations, an add button for contacts that will work directly from web pages, and more.
There is currently no information as to whether the feature with free SMS will also be available for Android or iOS devices.
